Laurie & Tom Miller
Laurie and Tom met in 1970 in an anthropology class that was then held in the quonset huts.
Running late for class one day, Tom ended up in the closest empty seat next to Laurie. She had the longest blonde hair.
‘It was before laptops, and we actually wrote notes,” Tom said. “My first words to her were, ‘you have masculine handwriting.'”
He waited until the last day of class to ask her out. She agreed and their relationship began.
They were engaged the following year and married in 1972.
“We’ve been blessed with nearly 45 years together, three children and six grandchildren,” Tom said. “Without CSU and a chance encounter we may have never met.”
